His playing and songwriting have earned him significant acclaim and respect from fellow musicians. JP has been awarded for both his songwriting and his musicality. He has performed in venues worldwide. Of all the things he is, foremost he is an entertainer.
The JP Cormier Signature Model is a masterfully crafted guitar designed in collaboration with acclaimed musician JP Cormier. David Mathis, the owner of Gallagher Guitars, said: “It is no small matter to consider a signature guitar for an artist. It is important to design a guitar that meets that needs of the artist and provides a new option to the Gallagher guitar lineup. JP wanted a comfortable size guitar that still produced clear, distinct notes and yet plenty of power. He needed a guitar that could suit his versatility from finger-style to flatpicking. We believe that we achieve all of these requirements thanks to the collaboration with JP.”
When COVID-19 shut the world down, JP discovered a new way to share his talents by creating a YouTube channel focused on guitars and music. He offers insights into playing techniques and the nuances of guitar tone and playability. Drawing from his extensive experience in the music industry, he shares rich stories and insights about that world. Now, while he’s back to performing music live, he continues to provide information, stories, and features online.
JP reached out to Gallagher Guitar Co. just as the world was feeling very dark due to COVID. He wanted to buy his own Gallagher G-70. Just as then, JP continues to be a ray of light for us and the larger guitar community. JP has bought other Gallagher guitars since his first G-70 and his interaction with David and shop eventually lead to discussions of building a JP Cormier Signature model by Gallagher Guitar Co.

This exceptional instrument features a Grand Auditorium body, offering a perfect balance of warmth, projection, and tonal clarity. Built with Birdseye Maple back and sides, the guitar delivers a bright, articulate tone with a stunning visual appeal. The top is crafted from Appalachian (Adirondack) Red Spruce, known for its dynamic response and rich resonance. The mahogany neck features Gallagher’s signature solid headstock with the traditional “wave” design, providing stability and a classic aesthetic.
The 13th-fret neck joint is a distinctive feature, enhancing playability and tonal balance. The instrument is bound in tortoise shell binding on the body, neck, and headstock, adding a refined touch. The Birdseye Maple rosette further complements the guitar’s elegant design.
The ebony headcap is adorned with a mother-of-pearl “G” and Bellflower inlay, while the ebony fretboard and Pyramid bridge enhance sustain and playability. A maple purfling strip accents the headcap and fretboard, adding to its unique character. The 3 mm mother-of-pearl dot fretboard markers provide subtle yet effective positioning references.
With a 25.25” scale length and a 1 ¾” nut width, this guitar is designed for comfort and versatility.
