A rare Gallagher SG-55, serial #3730
A rare Gallagher SG-55, serial #3730, built from a small batch of 50-year-old walnut that Don Gallagher, sourced from the Wisconsin/Michigan area, reportedly enough for only 15–20 instruments in this batch. Paired with a German spruce top and finished in a classic sunburst, this guitar carries the walnut’s warm, focused overtones with the added projection German spruce is known for. The SG-Slope Shoulder body provides a nice voice. Appointments include the J.W. Gallagher bellflower inlay on the headstock, a comfortable V-shaped neck profile, and gold Schaller tuners. Purchased directly from Stephen Gallagher in spring 2016, this instrument comes from a private collection and has been well cared for since. A rare opportunity to own one of a very limited run of walnut Gallaghers. The photos show some slight blemishes on the top resulting from playing wear. Overall, this guitar is in excellent condition and is ready to be enjoyed.
