In February 2026, Ruben came to Nashville to record a new album of original material at Compass Records Studio alongside Massimo Gatti and a remarkable group of musicians including Alison Brown, Tim O’Brien, Todd Phillips, and Victor Furtado. It was during that visit that he first encountered the Gallagher Bluegrass Bell — a connection that was, by his own account, both instinctive and decisive. After driving to Murfreesboro to visit the shop, left Nashville with his own to take home to Italy.
Ruben Minuto
Ruben Minuto is an Italian musician born in Milan in 1970, whose lifelong devotion to American roots music — blues, country, southern rock, bluegrass, and old-time traditions — has earned him a rare and respected place among the most authentic voices in these genres, on either side of the Atlantic. A leading Italian music publication captured his unique position perfectly:
“Il più americano tra gli artisti italiani o forse il più italiano fra quelli americani…” (“The most American among Italian artists — or perhaps the most Italian among American artists.”)
Ruben has been performing professionally since 1985, accumulating decades of live experience across Europe and earning recognition at some of the most prestigious events in American roots music. In 2001, he appeared at the IBMA World of Bluegrass in Owensboro, Kentucky — placing him among a very small group of Italian artists ever to perform at that gathering. In 2008, he was featured as “Artist of the Week” at the Chicago Blues Festival, a testament to the depth and credibility he has built across multiple American musical traditions.
His recorded work includes several solo albums — I Hate to Sing the Blues (2004), This (2011), Think of Paradise (2019), and The Larsen’s Sessions – Live in Studio (2021) — each reflecting different facets of his roots-driven artistry. Think of Paradise is widely regarded as a concept work, blending original compositions with southern rock and roots rock influences and reflecting his deep connection to nature and the American musical landscape. The Larsen’s Sessions captures his live studio sound without overdubs — raw, direct, and immediate.
