Experience the legacy of pre-war craftsmanship with our meticulously designed guitars, blending tradition with modern innovation.

Honoring Tradition, Embracing Innovation

Inspired by the rich history of pre-war guitars, the Bluegrass Bell line pays tribute to the era’s iconic sound and craftsmanship. Our journey began with a challenge from a friend to recreate the timeless allure of pre-war style, leading us to craft guitars that resonate with history and artistry. By incorporating torrefied Red Spruce tops and a vintage aesthetic, we celebrate the past while pushing the boundaries of modern guitar design.

The Bluegrass Bell line is a testament to Gallagher Guitar Co.’s dedication to preserving the essence of pre-war guitars. With a focus on authenticity and quality, we have crafted instruments that not only echo the sounds of the past but also offer a unique playing experience. Our commitment to excellence is reflected in every detail, from the forward shifted X-brace pattern to the modified v-neck profile, ensuring each guitar is a masterpiece of sound and craftsmanship.

Distinctive Features of this Bluegrass Bell

This particular Bluegrass Bell is the Grand Concert body shape which compares closely to the triple O style of guitars.  The smaller body provides its own playing experience. Most notably, the smaller body size often translates to a more focused sound, with each note clearly defined. It is also known for its responsiveness, reacting well to different playing dynamics.  Its balanced sound makes it suitable for fingerstyle, strumming, folk, blues, and other genres.

Grand Concert (25.25") vs. Triple O (24.9")

In comparison to a guitar with a 24.9″ scale length, a guitar with a 25.25″ scale length will generally exhibit the following tonal characteristics:
  • Brighter and More Articulate Tone: The slightly longer scale length results in higher string tension, which often translates to a brighter tone with more pronounced overtones and clearer note separation. This can be particularly noticeable on electric guitars, where the increased tension can give a more “snappy” feel.
  • Enhanced Resonance and Sustain: The longer scale length contributes to greater string resonance, leading to more sustain and a fuller sound.
  • Potential for Fuller Bass: Some players observe that a longer scale length, like 25.25″, can offer a fuller sounding bass compared to shorter scale instruments.
  • Better String Definition: The added tension can provide a more defined and articulate sound, especially beneficial for players who emphasize clarity and projection.

You can think of it like this: A longer string at the same pitch vibrates less widely than a shorter string. This tighter vibration on a longer scale contributes to a brighter, more focused sound.

“The feel in the hand, the vibration translated through the body, the tone in the ear…believe me, as a documentary filmmaker of guitar stories, I got to play all the major and boutique brands of the past several decades. Absolutely nothing rings as true as the instruments coming out of Murfreesboro these days. There is a spark of magic in that shop…it’s their leadership and dedicated crew.”  — Bill N.
