The Birdseye Maple Jumbo with Yellow Cedar top

George Gruhn encouraged Gallagher to begin building our first Jumbos.  The design includes a more narrow lower bout on the players side which makes it easier to reach over the top of the guitar.  Our Jumbos are built on the 25.40″ scale length with 1 11/16″ width at the nut.

The particular Jumbo is built from some of the most beautiful and well populated Birdseye that you will ever see.  It has a nice, full rich sound with plenty of headroom.

  • Birdseye Maple back and sides

This Gallagher guitar is handcrafted with Birdseye maple back and sides, a Yellow Cedar top, a mahogany neck, and an ebony maple headcap with an a Mother-of-pearl “G”.  Appointments include the BWBW purfling, ebony binding for the body and fingerboard, an enlarged ebony backstrip and a pieced ebony rosette.  The fingerboard and bridge are also ebony.  Subtle 4 mm dots are used for the fingerboard inlay.  We finished it out with Schaller GrandTune tuning machines with ebony knobs.  The finish is nitrocellulose lacquer with a very light amber.
