A Exceptional Guitar
Figured Mahogany, Cutaway, and a vine inlay
This Grand Auditorum was built to show what we could do. We were still fairly early in the Murfreesboro shop and we were feeling our oats. So, let’s select some exceptional woods and adorn it in the proper form. David and Reina Mathis designed the flowing vine pattern with the leaves as the fretboard markers. In fact, this is one of the last guitars that David did the inlay work himself prior to handing off that responsibility. A Florentine cutaway was added for ease of accessibility to the fretboard. Notice the Honduran Rosewood binding with a maple strip to set off the binding. The Abalone inlay on the headstock with the Gallagher “G” and J.W.’s Bellflower is very classy. The Abalone ring on the rosette is also a nice touch.
